What is the Big Give?

The Big Give 2024 is a huge national campaign which helps charities like us to DOUBLE their donations for one week.

Thanks to pledges made by our supporters in September, we’ve got ‘matched funding’. This means that every donation at our special campaign link between 3rd – 10th December 2024 will be doubled until we have £6,000. Donations taking us over this amount will still be received at no extra cost to us or you.

If you pay in between 3rd – 10th December 2024, you can double your donation! Help us make the most of this amazing opportunity thanks to the Big Give Christmas Challenge 2024.

Check out the ideas and inspiration below!

Donate between 3rd – 10th December 2024 to help us double our donations and make a huge impact. We are careful with your money, with around 85p of every £1 going straight into our life-saving work.

The Big Give donation page will be linked all over our website and social media – you won’t miss it!  If you’d like to be reminded about your donation, you can schedule a reminder using our handy form

You can make a difference. By supporting us, you will be giving more people the tools to identify warning signs, talk about suicide and signpost lifesaving resources to help reduce the number of lives lost to suicide each year.

Halloween

31st October
  • Collect donations during a craft night making Halloween decorations for your home
Put together a Halloween playlist and hold a competition for the best Monster Mash.
  • Organise some fang-tastic party games, like a murder mystery, apple-bobbing, or horror trivia and collect donations as a ‘ticket’.
  • Mix up some spellbinding beverages – think eye-ball punch or a witch’s brew – and ask people to donate for their drink.
  • Host a Pumpkin Carving Party with pumpkins, tools, templates and spoons, then ask people to vote with their money for the best one.

Halloween Bake Sale

Late October
  • Add a scary twist to your baking – fondant ghosts, candy eyeballs, or tombstone-shaped toppers.
  • Decorate brownies with white icing to resemble mummies, then add mini chocolate chips for the eyes.
  • Whip up meringues and shape them into ghostly figures
Bake and decorate Halloween-themed cookies in shapes like ghosts, pumpkins, bats and witch hats.

Costume competition

Late October
  • Scare-riffic styles – dare to dress, impress or scare your friends or colleagues by holding a Halloween costume competition.
  • ‘Ghoul’ out with make-up and accessories to complete your disguise and steal the prize!
  • Host a zombie-themed walk or run, where participants dress up as zombies and complete a course for a donation.
  • Arrange a special Halloween-themed yoga or fitness class where participants dress in costumes and donate the class fees.

Bonfire Night

5th November
  • Host a dress-up day at your workplace or school, asking your colleagues or friends to wear their sparkliest outfit and collect donations.
  • If there is a local firework display, ask whether you and some friends or colleagues can attend and collect some spare change as people leave at the end of the night.
  • Some people do not want to go out and leave their pets alone on Bonfire Night in case they are scared. If you don’t have any plans, you could volunteer to look after somebody’s pet in exchange for a donation.
  • Tempt family, friends, and colleagues with some sweet treats like toffee apples, toasted marshmallows, or hot chocolate for a small donation.
