Funded Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Training in East Sussex

Grassroots Suicide Prevention works in partnership with East Sussex County Council to deliver a range of mental health and suicide prevention training courses.

These training courses are part of a wider effort to enhance mental health awareness, address the stigma associated with mental health issues, and promote the overall mental wellbeing of everyone across East Sussex

The courses are funded by the council but eligibility for the different training courses varies so please ensure you pick the right one for you! For more information, please contact us at training@prevent-suicide.org.uk.

 

Available training

Real Talk (3.5 hours)

This is a half day workshop which teaches a foundational model of suicide awareness designed for use in community or workplace settings with the aims to be able to talk about suicide and signpost those at risk of suicide.

Caring Connections (1 day)

This is a full day, comprehensive and interactive course. The course enables participants to identify, engage, and collaboratively provide safety planning to people at risk of suicide. It is ideal for those who have ongoing relationships with individuals they are supporting.

Mental Health First Aid (2 days)

This two-day course teaches people how to identify, understand and help someone experiencing a mental health issue. Learners will be able to recognise signs of mental ill-health and develop the skills and confidence to approach and support someone while keeping themselves safe.

On completion you will be a certified Mental Health First Aider.

 

Youth Mental Health First Aid (2 days)

This course provides participants with an in-depth understanding of young people’s mental health and factors that affect wellbeing. Participants will be taught practical skills to spot the triggers and signs of mental health issues and gain confidence to reassure and support a young person in distress. They will also learn tips to support their own mental wellbeing.

On completion you will be a certified Mental Health First Aider.
