Volunteer

Our passionate and dedicated volunteers and supporters are the backbone to our suicide prevention work. Simply put - we could not save lives without you.

Whatever time you have, whatever your skills, wherever you live, your contribution will be deeply valued.

Why volunteer?

Volunteering is a great way to give your time, raise our profile and help us on or journey to prevent suicide.  below, you’ll find three easy ways to help Grassroots Suicide Prevention: at events, using your professional skills or being involved in campaigns.

You can visit the Get Involved page for more options and opportunities. You’ll also find information on our Fundraising pages for ideas and upcoming events.

Event volunteers

Behind every successful event is a team of dedicated staff and volunteers planning, promoting, setting up, stewarding and greeting. It's a great way to meet new people and have a positive impact on society. You will develop qualities and skills that employers value, like empathy, resilience, communication and teamwork.

Skills-based volunteering

You may want to allow your employees to offer some professional experience and expertise on a pro bono basis to help us develop, do things better and to create social impact. We welcome one-off opportunities like consultancy or long-term remote positions like trustees or helping at events.

Campaign for us

In the UK, 115 people die by suicide every week. We are working to change that.
We can all reduce the stigma around suicide by campaigning for change and talking about it openly. View our current campaigns or work with us on a new one.

Ambassadors and champions

Become an ambassador

We are launching an ambassador scheme. If you have a local, industry or national profile and a connection to our work, we would love to hear from you.

Suicide Prevention Champion

If you would like to be the person in your organisation to complete our Suicide First Aid course and you are willing to work with us on raising awareness to save lives, please get in touch.

Not sure what to do?

If you can’t commit right now, you can still volunteer your time by raising awareness on social media, at work or in your community. You can make a difference with something as simple as tweeting or putting up a poster.

If you don’t know what you’d like to do, you can find inspiration in our supporter stories. Have a look at what others have done for Grassroots Suicide Prevention and carry on their legacy.

Did you know 1 in 5 people will have suicidal thoughts at some point in their lives?
