A recent Lancet study in 2022 revealed a staggering statistic: 49.7% of all suicide attempts in the UK are linked to domestic abuse. This statistic underscores the urgent need for all professionals working with victims/survivors, and those who use abusive behaviours, to develop the skills and confidence necessary to support them effectively and prevent further tragedies.
In the UK, there are five million family caregivers, and their unpaid labour contribute a staggering £445 million to the economy every day – that’s £162 billion per year. Research shows as many as one in five children and young people are young carers with a further 600,000 hidden young carers not receiving any support.
