Suicidal ideation in carers is very common, and deaths by homicide-suicide have been reported.
This interactive course explores the unique challenges faced by family carers and provides practical strategies for identifying at-risk caregivers, initiating conversations about suicide, and safeguarding vulnerable care recipients.

- Discuss cultural traditions and family dynamics related to caregiving that might heighten or mask suicide risk.
- Discuss specific risks associated with family caregiving, including homicide-suicide.
- Identify at-risk caregivers.
- Initiate and engage a caregiver in a conversation about suicide.
- Discuss ways to safeguard vulnerable care recipient.
- Know how to refer at-risk caregivers to appropriate suicide prevention, support, and treatment.
