2024: A Year of Impact in Suicide Prevention

As 2024 draws to a close, we’d like to celebrate the incredible support from our amazing community. Your ongoing dedication and generosity have been pivotal in helping us grow, make progress, and create a real impact this year. We are a small team, working hard with you to make a difference. Together, we have achieved so much over the last year.

With your help, we have:

Supported communities and individuals

Women’s Hub: Working with 10 key charities, we launched a suicide prevention hub for women. Our campaign reached an estimated 4 million people and was featured on Sky News, Trisha, and GB News.

Suicide Prevention Hubs: Our Hubs, designed for young people, older adults, and women, have been visited by over 25,000 people in their first year. We’re now developing additional hubs to support even more vulnerable groups.

Stay Alive app: We have reached nearly 1 million downloads, a 70% increase from last year. Our NHS-recommended, award-winning app is still free and provides vital support for at-risk people. Learn more about our suicide prevention app here.

Website: We reached over 100,000 people, offering free resources, training, and support, across the UK and globally.

Breaking the Silence: We launched the UK’s first quality-assured training for young people (14+) to identify and support peers at risk of suicide and know when to seek adult help. So far, we’ve delivered this to 1,000 Year 10 students. See us on ITV here.

Raised awareness

Campaigns: We ran over fifty impactful anti-stigma and awareness campaigns, reaching around ten million people through social media, TV, radio, and press.

Social media: We reached 415,000 people, raising awareness and sharing essential resources.

Podcasts: We launched a podcast series that has reached hundreds of people across the UK.

Grew through partnerships

Megga Telecom: We partnered with Megga Telecom, who will contribute a percentage of every eSIMCrew Data Plan sold through their app to support us. They have also kindly offered a 5% discount to our supporters (CODE: Grassroots5). Learn more about Megga Telecom here.

David Riddell Foundation: After funding our training for the financial sector, we were delighted that the David Riddell Foundation not only supported our work in schools but also committed to the development of our Stay Alive app, including tailoring it for high-risk groups, increasing interactivity, and refining the user experience.

Select Equity Group Foundation: We have received a generous grant to help us progress with some life-saving projects.

Fundraising: This year, our amazing fundraisers took part in 35 events, such as marathons, concerts, pub quizzes, sports, and even skydives, playing an essential role in helping us continue our work and save lives. Find out how you can get involved here.

The Big Give Challenge: Thanks to your generosity, we raised £6,800 during The Big Give campaign week, furthering our life-saving work.

Training: We delivered 230 training courses to over 4,000 participants, equipping individuals with the skills to have life-saving conversations and prevent suicide.

Lived experience: We launched our Suicide Prevention Lived Experience Groups, ensuring our work is guided and shaped by the authentic voices of those with lived experiences of suicide.  We have developed over 25 lived experience stories of hope and recovery.

Inaugural conference: We hosted our very first conference, bringing together around 200 professionals from 85 organisations committed to suicide prevention. Feedback showed 100% of people would recommend the conference to peers next year.

Engaged Nationally

Conferences: We have presented at seven national conferences, including the Self Harm and Suicide Prevention conference and Healthcare UK conference.

UK working: We have increased our work across the UK and are now working in over 40 counties on suicide prevention training, campaigns, and partnerships.

In 2025, with your support, we can have a greater impact and save more lives from suicide.

Together, we can continue to make a real difference and work towards a future where more lives are saved from suicide.
